Royal Point Living Room Design & Wine Room

We’re living large back at our #RoyalPoint project. This space, once home to a dated office and wine storage room, has thoughtfully transformed into luxurious sitting and wine rooms, perfect aged reds, and compelling conversation. The adjoining spaces allow two separate and interesting rooms to be enjoyed from a singular vantage point. The Living Room design plays with different levels of saturation in a monochromatic palette while beautifully juxtaposed by the lighter and more natural Wine Room. Be sure to see the before and after images in the gallery below.

When walking into the Sitting Room, the stunning, hand-painted Gracie Studio wallcovering creates intimacy and intrigue. The wallcovering includes four birds that represent the homeowners’ children and each child’s initial delicately written on a wing. The flowers painted on the wallcovering pay tribute to the matriarch’s love of hydrangeas. The deep blues and greens found in the wall covering set the tone for the custom window treatments and millwork.

The Sitting Room’s paneling, shelving, and doors are all lacquered in Benjamin Moore’s Greyhound adding subtle highlights to the space. The ceiling incorporates added interest because it is also lacquered and slatted in this living room design. The unlacquered brass bars and hardware found throughout the built-ins give a subtle contrast to the glossy trim, ceiling, and cabinetry. One of the most striking focal points is the Paul Ferrante La Mer chandelier over the seating area. The luxurious seating area includes a custom velvet sofa upholstered in Colefax and Fowler’s Keats in aqua, custom lounge chairs, an oversized ottoman, and sophisticated side table, all essential to the design and function of the Sitting Room. Lastly, the beautiful, custom Retorra rug anchors the space with additional saturation and pattern.

Once comfortably seated, the eye travels through a pair of lacquered pocket doors to the antique brick façade of the Wine Room. Stained flat panel French oak cabinetry fronts the antique brick allowing storage for the homeowners’ extensive wine collection. The concrete countertops and hand-scraped white oak floors give a masculine juxtaposition to the more feminine Sitting Room. A leaded glass door on one end leads to the dining room providing a perfect flow for entertaining guests.
