I not long ago turned my kid’s messy basement playroom into an arranged, awesome kid’s hangout retreat (they truly want to commit time down there now)!

We wanted far more storage for the young children toys and a way to cover a pair of steel beam supports in the completed element of our basement (about two hundred sqft).

Media Wall Prepare

BUT I experienced no where by near $1,700 to commit on it.  I did have $one hundred to commit and that is how a great deal it cost to make the full media wall unit shown underneath!

Believe it or not this project commences with 2 Ikea Gersby Bookcases (only $25 each)!

So let us get started!

Bookshelves Building Tutorial

Stick to these steps to get this IKEA wall unit media center glimpse.

Create the Bookshelves

1.   Initially, put the Ikea bookcase together following the guidelines in the bundle (it is quite uncomplicated).  At this position you can leave off the removable shelves.

Bench Building Tutorial

Creating the Foundation of the Bench

Optional- Include trim to your wish.  I nailed a piece of trim to the front of the best piece of the bench.

I also added a piece of baseboard trim to the bottom front of the whole wall unit.

And finally, I added a piece of lattice trim to the aspect back again of the bookshelves to cover the hole among the shelves and the wall.

And I have thought about including attractive pulls to the front of the containers but have not discovered the “right” kinds nevertheless!:-)
