A Brooklyn Brownstone Kitchen in Black and White By Shapeless Studio Architecture
Architects Andrea Fisk and Jess Thomas of Shapeless Studio are modernists with beating hearts. The 1867 Italianate framework arrived with a classic residing and dining home sequence leading into a 2007 kitchen extension in the back again. “The major purpose of the renovation was to come across a way to more seamlessly and intentionally combine the kitchen with the other rooms though paying homage to the first construction,” says Fisk.
“Our sensibility is frequently a lot more present day, but we also wanted to honor the building’s historic aspects. Shapeless has that sensitivity,” explain the clients—a landscape architect and a meals business specialist with a toddler. “The kitchen area and the yard were our aim. We cook dinner all the time, love to have close friends and spouse and children more than, and have a youngster, so the kitchen had to be extremely functional, ” say the customers. “Nothing feels important, we can really stay in the space, and we like the way the natural supplies will age.”
Fisk and Thomas sing the praises of their collaborators: all of the cabinetry was developed to their structure by ABC Cabinet Makers: “They are very depth-oriented and communicate all through the approach.” And Sunshine Renovations Management served as the common contractor: “kind and considerate, and incredible at performing in just the irregularity of old townhouses.”
